Deirdre is the Sussex author and photographer of four guidebooks: Sussex Walks; Day Walks on the South Downs; Cycling Days Out South East England and is co-author of Cycling in Sussex. She is currently researching a fifth guidebook: Day Walks in the High Weald. They have all been commissioned by Vertebrate Publishing.
Deirdre also writes fiction and is a graduate of the MA Creative Writing at Bath Spa University. She has just finished a coming-of-age novel set in eighteenth-century Sussex and is composting a twentieth century time slip mystery set in Denmark and England.
She has made a number of documentary films for the National Trust South Downs to capture the unique atmosphere of the Devil’s Dyke Estate, its agricultural history and fascinating ecology. As well as capturing video and stills herself, she enjoys bringing new life to archive sources.
